our candle care guide

1. Trim the Wick

Before lighting your candle, always trim the wick to approximately 1/4 inch. This helps prevent excessive smoke, soot, and uneven burning. Trimming the wick also reduces the risk of the flame becoming too large and causing the candle to burn too quickly.

2. Burn the Candle for the Right Amount of Time

When you first light your candle, allow it to burn until the wax melts evenly across the entire surface. This helps prevent tunneling, where the candle burns straight down the middle, leaving wax along the sides. For larger candles, this may take a few hours. Avoid extinguishing the candle before the wax has melted to the edges.

3. Avoid Drafts

Keep your candle away from drafts, as they can cause uneven burning and excessive flickering. Drafts can also increase the risk of the flame becoming too large and potentially causing the candle to tip over. Place your candle on a stable surface away from open windows, fans, or air conditioning vents.

4. Use a Candle Snuffer

When extinguishing your candle, avoid blowing it out, as this can create smoke and potentially splatter hot wax. Instead, use a candle snuffer to gently extinguish the flame. This helps minimize smoke and ensures a clean and safe extinguishing process.

5. Store Candles Properly

When not in use, store your candles in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight. Excessive heat can cause the wax to soften or melt, while sunlight can fade the color and scent of the candle. Proper storage helps maintain the quality and longevity of your candles.

6. Never Leave a Burning Candle Unattended

Always supervise a burning candle and never leave it unattended. It's important to keep candles away from flammable materials, children, and pets. Remember to extinguish the candle before leaving the room or going to sleep.
